Nature and Landscape

The shadow of a tree next to a countryside chapel; a pond; the beauty of a farmyard, surrounded by hedges, orchards, and lime trees; feeling surprised at the sight of flowering purple heather at the edge of a forest...

They all make the Regionaal Landschap Kempen en Maaslanda region where vacation is thrilling and living is relaxing.

But keeping the region this beautiful takes a lot of effort.

To improve the quality of nature is an important function in society. This quality can either make or break nature-orientated tourism in a region. The Regionaal Landschap Kempen en Maasland tries to stimulate and to support the local nature organizations, farmers, landowners and caretakers. Communication is the key-word for a perfect balance between nature, conservation, development, landscape-management, recreational use, and education.

To start working, the government provided us with a wide range of resources: a landscape animator, an operation planner, a landscaping team with experienced employees, a nature coordinator and a project funding.

Since 2007, Parkrangers actively maintain the recreational facilities in and around the National Park ‘Hoge Kempen’. In addition, they also take part in small nature restoration projects.
