The ‘Mechelse Heide’ is the place to be if you love hiking. The purple heather makes the panoramic views extra enchanting between August and September. Enjoy hour-long walks, either individually or under the guidance of one of our Rangers.

Tourist information Maasmechelen: Here you can find all information you need on the ‘Maasland’ (the region around the river Meuse’), the National Park and the Gateway ‘Mechelse Heide’. Furthermore, there is a small exhibition, a shop and the possibility to rent bikes. You can also combine your visit to the Park with a day of shopping in ‘Maasmechelen Village’.

Camping site ‘Salamander’: A cup of coffee and a piece of genuine ‘Limburgse Vlaai’ (pie typical for Limburg) is always a good idea. Before or after your hike, you can enjoy this typical Limburg speciality at the cafeteria ‘ ‘t Salamanderke’.
Open: February 1st until November 30th: starting at 11 am, During weekends and holidays: starting at 9 am.

Camping site ‘Kikmolen’ – Restaurant ‘Aen ‘t Venne’: Tired? Hungry? Then take a short brake in cafeteria ‘Aen ‘t Venne’. There is also possibility to put up your tent or your caravan.

Cafeteria ‘De Statie’: By train, on foot, by bike or by car, the cafeteria is a nice place to pause for a coffee or something to eat.
Open: May 15th until September 14th, starting at 11.30 am, closed on Monday, September 15th until May 14th, starting at 1 pm, closed on Monday and Friday

By car:   On the E314, take exit 32, follow the N75 direction ‘As’, continue until the 3rd lights, here you turn left. Or on the E314, take exit 33, follow the N78 direction ‘Maasmechelen’, take a left onto the ‘J. Smeetslaan’ direction ‘As’
