At the Gateway ‘Kattevennen’, you will embark on a journey through our macro-cosmos: the universe, with a visit to the Cosmodrome as a highlight of your day. Here, you can watch a show on the stars and planets of our night skies. Of course, there is also to possibility to go hiking, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, skiing, play mini-golf or let your children play in the playground while you enjoy a cup of coffee in the cafeteria. The newly built visitor centre will provide tourists with all the information for a visit to the National Park.

Entrance to the visitor centre is free.
Opening hours:   from 9 am until 5 pm during the week from 1 pm until 5 pm on Sundays.
From March until October, it is also open from 1 pm until 5 pm on Saturday.

Cosmodrome: at the Cosmodrome, a high-tech projection will show you the stars and planets that brighten our night skies. After the show, you can look through a genuine telescope. For more details on the program: www.cosmodrome.be

Tavern ‘De Krater’: Relax after a nice stroll through the park with a bite to eat, or a refreshing drink, while the children horse about on the playground.
October – March: open every day 11 am until 7 pm, April – September: open every day 11 am until 9 pm

Horse riding – Manege ‘Kattevenia’: All riders are welcome here. There is a separate parking lot. From here, you have easy access to the bridle pad of the National Park.

Botanical Park: Stroll through the different botanical gardens of the Botanical Park. Children can play in the playground or admire the animals at the petting zoo.

Skiing, mini-golf and cycling: all these sports can be practiced at the Bloso sports centre (Agency for the Promotion of Physical Development, Sports, and Outdoor recreation).Rental bikes are available and for groups of minimum 15 people there is even the possibility to stay the night. Are you more the adventurous type: try skiing or mountain boarding at Kicks & Fun.

Directions:

By car: On the E314, take the exit 32 – follow the direction ‘Genk’, at the roundabout take the third exit, then at the first red lights, take a left.
By bus: From the train station in ‘Genk’, take bus G2 (more information on busses: www.delijn.be)
